Redcliff Council Donates Grave, Supports Family as Young Fire Victim is Laid to Rest
Municipality of Redcliff donated a grave and provided logistical support through its Housing Department for the burial of five-year-old Albert Dzimbiri who died in the Senga commuter omnibus fire tragedy.

Redcliff, Kwekwe – The Municipality of Redcliff has reaffirmed its support for families affected by the recent Gweru commuter omnibus fire tragedy after donating a grave and providing logistical assistance for the burial of five-year-old Albert Chenamukumba Dzimbiri, one of the seven children who perished in the Gweru Senga inferno.
Albert, an Early Childhood Development (ECD) learner at Senga Primary School, was laid to rest at Rutendo Cemetery on Saturday.
A sombre atmosphere engulfed the cemetery as relatives, friends and members of the community gathered to bid farewell to the young boy.
Although Albert lived with his parents in Gweru, the family comes from Redcliff's Rutendo suburb.
The commuter omnibus fire, which claimed the lives of seven children, was declared a national disaster by the Government.
As part of its support to the bereaved family, the Municipality of Redcliff donated the burial grave, while the council's Housing Department assisted with other logistical arrangements to ensure the funeral proceeded smoothly.
Speaking on behalf of the local authority, Municipality of Redcliff spokesperson, Michael Mangoronga, said the assistance reflected the council's commitment to standing with residents during times of tragedy.
"The tragic incident, which claimed the lives of [seven] children, was declared a national disaster.
"In a gesture of solidarity and support, the Municipality of Redcliff assisted the bereaved family by donating a grave for the burial.
"Through our Housing Department, we also provided logistical support to ensure the family was accorded a dignified farewell for their loved one," Magoronga said.
He said the Municipality shared the grief of all families affected by the tragedy.
"As the Municipality of Redcliff, we stand with the Dzimbiri family and all other families affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.
"During this difficult time, we extend our deepest condolences and prayers to all those mourning the loss of their loved ones.
"May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace, and may their families find comfort, strength and healing. We mourn together as one community," he said.
The tragedy has left communities across the Midlands Province in mourning, with Government, local authorities and well-wishers continuing to rally behind the affected families.
