Sydney Dog and Cat Lovers Festivals 2026 Returns this August
The premier canine festival returns to the Sydney Showground this August, featuring a new grooming stage and dual access to the co-located Cat Lovers Festival.
Sydney — Pet enthusiasts across New South Wales are preparing for one of the largest consumer exhibitions on the national calendar, with organisers confirming the simultaneous return of the Sydney Dog Lovers Festival and the Sydney Cat Lovers Festival.
The co-located events will take over the Sydney Showground on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August 2026, operating daily from 9:30am to 5:00pm under a unified ticketing system that grants patrons entry to both pavilions.
The 2026 canine program features a revamped entertainment and educational line-up.
Television personality and certified dog trainer Lara Shannon will host the central VitaPet Arena, managing a schedule of high-performance dog sports, agility demonstrations and behavioral showcases designed to highlight training techniques and bond-building.
The outdoor aquatic program will see the return of the Kurgo DockDogs competition, a crowd-focused tournament where canine athletes compete in specialised long jump, high jump and high-speed water retrieval disciplines from an elevated dock into a massive custom-built pool.
For prospective pet owners, the festival is anchoring its educational footprint around the Breed Showcase and the interactive Pat-A-Pooch zones.
The areas allow attendees to interface directly with registered breed experts to evaluate temperament, genetic health considerations and specific husbandry requirements before adopting.
Medical and wellness consultations will be channeled through the SASH Ask-A-Vet zone, giving the public direct access to clinical veterinary specialists for advice on canine nutrition, senior pet care and preventative medicine.
Organisers have also introduced an entirely new feature for the 2026 season, a dedicated Grooming Stage.
The platform will host live structural clip demonstrations, coat-maintenance seminars and professional panels addressing the latest trends and dermatological products within the domestic pet styling industry.
In addition to the performance arenas, the event serves as one of the southern hemisphere's largest commercial trade marketplaces for companion animals.
Hundreds of retail and wholesale exhibitors are scheduled to showcase emerging technologies, premium veterinary diets, boutique fashion accessories and smart enrichment toys, with many digital-first brands offering exclusive, in-person festival discounts.
The adjacent Sydney Cat Lovers Festival will mirror this commercial scale while introducing its own targeted programming.
Feline enthusiasts will access the brand-new "Cat Chat" segment hosted by prominent veterinarian, Dr. Katrina Warren, alongside dedicated feline breed showcases and specialised "Pat-A-Cat" interactive enclosures.
