Australia Based 16-Year-Old Zimbabwean Designer Tariro "TK" Kanduka Prepares for Global Runway Conquest in New York
By Harry Taruva - Australia-based Zimbabwean designer, model and actor Tariro “TK” Kanduka is preparing for her New York Fashion Week debut in 2027 after building an emerging fashion career across Australia and Asia.
Sydney — At just 16 years old, Australian-based Zimbabwean creative Tariro “TK” Kanduka is transforming childhood sketches into high-fashion reality on the world’s biggest stages.
What began as a young girl’s dream to walk the runway has evolved into a burgeoning international career spanning fashion design, modeling and acting, proving that world-class talent knows no age.
A Mother’s Vision and Dual-Sided Artistry
Tariro’s entry into fashion started in front of the lens. However, walking the runway sparked a deeper curiosity about the artistry behind the clothes, the silhouettes, movement and narrative woven into every garment.
Captivated by the creative process, she began filling notebooks with original concepts.
The turning point came when her mother recognised her raw talent and urged her to bring those sketches to life.
"My mum believed in my ability before I completely believed in it myself," Tariro shared in an interview with Kwedu News.
"She encouraged me to stop seeing my designs as just drawings and start thinking about what they could become," she said.

Viewing modeling, acting and design as three branches of the same creative tree, Tariro uses her dual perspective on and off the runway to craft garments that tell a story, capture movement and evoke deep emotion.
A Whirlwind Global Schedule
Having already built an emerging brand across Australia, Thailand and Malaysia, TK’s trajectory is set for a massive leap forward over the next twelve months.
In November 24, 2026 she will be showcasing at Thailand Fashion Week.
November 27, 2026 will see her Traveling to Malaysia for an exclusive showcase at the International Fashion Runway (IFR), and in September 2027, she will be debuting on the world's premier stage at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) through Runway7.
Rooted in Zimbabwe, Inspiring the Next Generation
Despite her expanding global footprint, Tariro’s identity remains firmly anchored in her homeland.
She approaches her rapid rise with humility, viewing her age as an opportunity to experiment, learn garment construction, and master the business of fashion.
Her identity still firmly anchored in Zimbabwe.
The young fashion diva is already taking custom made orders, has a clearance sale on designed dresses in stock and collections are available to look through and preorder, providing exact measurements so garments can be made for a perfect fit for her customers.
Beyond her personal success, Tariro is driven by a desire to uplift African youth and plans to establish a modeling school in Zimbabwe to mentor aspiring creatives.
"I want other young people from Zimbabwe and Africa to see that being young doesn't mean your dreams have to wait," Tariro said.
"You can start with what you have, keep learning, and keep developing your talent," said "TK".
