Gweru— Gospel musician, Henry Munemo, is using music to spread a message of hope, faith and salvation, drawing inspiration from his personal transformation and Christian journey.
Born in 1976, Munemo grew up in Masvingo before moving to Gweru, where he is based and works as a technical skills trainer at a public college.
A trained technical and vocational education lecturer, husband, father and small-scale farmer, Munemo launched his gospel music career early this year, describing the move as a calling born out of his personal testimony and renewed commitment to Christianity.
A born-again Christian, Munemo said prayer and worship played a key role in his decision to venture into music.
He was baptised in the Full Gospel Church and has served in the Miracle Mission Church of All Nations (MMCN) and United Family International Church (UFIC) before joining Family in Christ International, where he currently worships from.
“I started my gospel music journey in 2026, end of March. This is a personal testimony God did to me, I believe it's a calling after time spent on prayers and worship,” Munemo said.
He believes music provides an effective platform to reach people with the gospel.
“I chose to worship through music for the reason that it can reach a wider audience and the message travels fast,” he said.
Munemo began with three singles namely Rudzi rwaAdam, Mweya Mutsvene Ndinyaradze and Mufudzi Wangu.
His growing catalogue also includes Emmanuel Holy, Holy Holy, Holy Spirit Song Come and Kunamata Kusina Mabasa.
He has also collaborated with Skayler T and Yeukai Mangwaza, as well as Amai Munemo on Let's Celebrate Love, a song aimed at encouraging couples preparing for marriage.
Munemo says his music is particularly focused on encouraging people facing difficult circumstances, while also reaching out to young people with messages of hope.
“As an artist of gospel music, I want my music to leave the youths in Zimbabwe with the message of God's love and hope of salvation, that they are valued, forgiven and can have a future with Christ,” he said.
Despite his growing passion for music, Munemo says lack of funding, limited media exposure, expensive event logistics, inadequate equipment and transport challenges remain major obstacles for emerging artistes.
He is currently working on another project and several music videos as he seeks to expand his audience.
With faith at the centre of his musical journey, Munemo hopes to grow his Ministry beyond Gweru and use his music to inspire Zimbabweans and beyond, to embrace God's love and remain hopeful about their great future, especially young people, he said
