ZIMSEC Clarifies on 2026 Examination Fees
Harare - The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has confirmed that examination fees for the 2026 Grade Seven, June Ordinary Level and Advanced Level public examinations will remain unchanged.
In a statement released yesterday, ZIMSEC said the fees apply uniformly to candidates registered at Government schools, private schools and colleges, as preparations for the 2026 examination cycle begin.
ZIMSEC public relations manager, Ms Nicky Dhlamini, said parents and guardians should take note that there has been no review of examination charges.
“The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council has released the June Ordinary and Advanced Level examination fees for 2026.
Parents and guardians are advised that the fees remain the same as in previous years,” she said.
For June 2026 examinations, Ordinary Level fees are set at US$24 per subject, while Advanced Level fees are US$48 per subject, figures that ordinarily reflect the Government’s 55 percent subsidy.
However, Ms Dhlamini clarified that candidates sitting for the June examinations are not eligible for the Government subsidy, as these sittings are mainly for candidates rewriting or supplementing subjects after having benefitted from the subsidy in earlier sittings.
“As such, June examination candidates are required to pay the full examination fees,” she said.
Meanwhile, Grade Seven examination fees for 2026 have been set at US$5 per term for candidates at Government schools, council schools and not-for-profit mission schools.
Candidates at private schools and colleges will pay US$11.
ZIMSEC has urged parents, guardians and school authorities to familiarise themselves with the approved fees to facilitate smooth registration and planning for the 2026 examination cycle.
