Police Bust Notorious Masvingo Theft Syndicate
ZRP Detectives in Masvingo have arrested a four-member syndicate linked to 10 cases of unlawful entry and theft. Property worth over US$10,000, including electronics and appliances, has been recovered following a series of residential break-ins occurring between late 2025 and April 2026.
Masvingo - The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has apprehended a four-man syndicate suspected of carrying out a wave of housebreakings and thefts in and around Masvingo.
The arrest of Peace Mandizvidza (32), Edward Sibanda (27), Tapiwa Tagwirei (27), and Kumbulani Sibanda (25) follow a concentrated investigation into a series of crimes committed between December 2025 and April 2026.
A police report says the group specialised in targeting residential properties while homeowners were away.
The suspects reportedly employed forced entry methods to access the premises, systematically removing high-value household items and electronics.
To date, the ZRP has linked the quartet to at least 10 documented cases of unlawful entry and theft.
“The suspects have so far been linked to 10 cases of unlawful entry and theft, in which property valued at US$14 330-00 was stolen.
"The incidents involved the suspects breaking into residential premises in the absence of the owners and stealing various household goods, including electrical appliances such as television sets and refrigerators, as well as blankets and other items,” ZRP National Spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi said in a statement.
The total value of stolen goods is estimated at over US$14,000.
However, police efforts have already resulted in a substantial recovery of the looted property.
“Police have since recovered property valued at US$10 305-00, including two television sets, a deep freezer, blankets and other items,” Commissioner Nyathi said.
The four suspects remain in custody as investigations continue to determine if they are linked to further unsolved cases in the region.
The ZRP has frequently urged residents to bolster home security measures, particularly during periods when residences are left unattended, as opportunistic syndicates often monitor neighborhoods for vulnerabilities.
