Fined and Banned For Drunk Driving
Zimbabwean comedian and social media personality Theophilus Gabriel Chigumira, popularly known as Mai Clifford, has been fined US$200 and banned from driving for six months after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol.

Harare — Zimbabwean comedian and social media personality, Theophilus Gabriel Chigumira, popularly known as "Mai Clifford," has been fined US$200 and prohibited from driving for six months after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol.
In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said Chigumira (30) appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Court after being arrested on July 11, 2026.
The NPAZ said Chigumira, of Vahombe Estate in Madokero, was driving a Mazda Atenza at the Newlands Roundabout along ED Mnangagwa Road in Harare when he was found to be intoxicated.
"An alcohol test revealed that he had an alcohol concentration of 160mg per 100ml, more than three times Zimbabwe's prescribed legal limit," the prosecution authority said.
He was subsequently charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The court fined Chigumira US$200, or the ZiG equivalent, payable on or before July 30, 2026, and barred from driving for six months.
In the statement accompanying the case update, the NPAZ urged motorists to avoid driving after consuming alcohol.
"The NPAZ urges motorists to never get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol as impaired driving poses a serious threat to the safety of all road users," the authority said.
