Harare - The judicial proceedings surrounding Anymore Zvitsva have transitioned into a broader investigation of a suspected ritualistic trade network operating within Mashonaland Central.
Following a series of disclosures at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, the 33-year-old suspect, who faces twenty-five counts of murder, provided detailed testimony regarding the alleged sale of human remains to third parties for spiritual and commercial gain.
Zvitsva’s testimony reveals a sophisticated and disturbing marketplace where human biological material was treated as a commodity.
He claimed to have provided human blood to various self-styled prophets, including individuals he identified as Junioius Kasinauyo and Gidza Dhorobha, for sums of approximately US$200.
Beyond the trade of blood, the suspect alleged a direct link between his crimes and the local mining industry.
Specifically, Zvitsva identified one Nathan Churweni as a recipient of human tissue, asserting that the organs were sought under the superstitious premise that they would catalyze gold production in local mines.
The forensic details of Zvitsva’s activities reveal a chilling psychological profile. The suspect described a ritualistic process in which he incinerated the remains of his victims and integrated the ashes into oils, which he then utilised as a lotion.
This practice was driven by the delusion that such substances would grant him clairvoyant abilities, specifically the power to locate hidden currency and predict future threats.
Zvitsva even admitted to incorporating human ashes into the construction of a retail structure, a project he believed would secure his financial future before it was eventually destroyed.
The apprehension of the suspect on January 3, 2026, marked the end of an intensive inter-agency manhunt.
Law enforcement utilized a combination of drone surveillance, canine units and horseback patrols to navigate the mountainous terrain of Guruve and Mvurwi, where Zvitsva had been evading capture by mimicking the movement patterns of wild animals.
The arrest followed the detention of the suspect’s 107-year-old grandmother, Emma, who is currently being investigated as a possible spiritual facilitator for his actions.
While Zvitsva has issued a formal plea for leniency to state officials and the nation, the legal weight of the case remains focused on the twenty-five counts of murder and multiple charges of rape and attempted murder.
One of the most severe incidents on record took place on December 14, 2025, when five of the suspect's own relatives, Grace Zvitsva, Loice Chiringaushe, Takudzwa Kariva, Tatenda Chirenje and Tendai Zvitsva, were killed at Ona Farm.
Commissioner Paul Nyathi has indicated that detectives are continuing to follow leads regarding the named accomplices and the wider syndicate as the State prepares its evidence.
