Diversity Council Australia Launches Cultural Intelligence Training to Address Workplace Polarisation

Diversity Council Australia (DCA) has launched two new training programs to strengthen cultural intelligence and foster inclusion in workplaces facing rising social tension and cultural complexity. Announced on April 28, 2026, the initiatives—Leading with Cultural Intelligence for senior leaders and Cultural Intelligence for Multicultural and Multifaith Teams for employees—equip organisations with practical tools to manage conflict, build inclusive teams, and improve cross-cultural communication. Delivered both in-person and online, the programs respond to growing demand as workplaces navigate divisions driven by global conflict, misinformation, and identity-based discrimination. CEO Catherine Hunter emphasised that cultural intelligence is now a core leadership capability, essential for turning diversity into innovation and workplace cohesion.

Diversity Council Australia Launches Cultural Intelligence Training to Address Workplace Polarisation

As workplaces grapple with rising social tension and cultural complexity, Diversity Council Australia (DCA) has unveiled two new training programs aimed at strengthening cultural intelligence and fostering inclusion across multicultural and multifaith teams.

Launched on April 28, 2026, the initiatives respond to growing demand from organisations seeking practical strategies to navigate workplace divisions driven by global conflict, misinformation and increasing social polarisation.

“Workplaces don’t exist in isolation,” said Phoebe Mwanza, noting that external pressures—from faith-based discrimination to geopolitical tensions—are increasingly shaping employee experiences.
Targeted Programs for Leaders and Staff

The new offerings are tailored to different levels within organisations:
Leading with Cultural Intelligence equips managers, executives and senior leaders with tools to build inclusive, culturally responsive teams, manage conflict, and lead effective cross-cultural communication.

Cultural Intelligence for Multicultural and Multifaith Teams is designed for employees, focusing on self-awareness, communication skills, and practical approaches to working across diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.

Both programs are delivered either in-person or virtually and are accessible to DCA members and non-members.

DCA says the training comes at a critical moment, as workplaces become more diverse while public discourse around identity, religion and migration grows increasingly divided.
Chief Executive Officer Catherine Hunter emphasised that cultural intelligence is now a core leadership capability rather than a niche skill.
“Leaders don’t need to be experts in every culture or faith,” she said. “They need the curiosity, adaptability and confidence to engage constructively with difference.”
DCA argues that without these skills, organisations risk deepening misunderstanding and exclusion. With them, diversity can instead drive innovation, collaboration and stronger workplace cohesion.
