Nestlé Pulls MILO Snack Bar Batches After Black Rubber Contamination
Nestlé Oceania has issued an urgent recall for select batches of MILO Snack Bars (Dipped and Original) due to potential contamination with black rubber pieces. Affected products were sold at Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and independent retailers with a Best Before date of 31/08/2026.
Sydney - Nestlé Oceania has issued a voluntary recall for several batches of its MILO snack bar range across Australia and New Zealand after identifying potential contamination with fragments of black rubber.
The food giant confirmed on Saturday, February 14, that the recall was triggered by an equipment failure at a third-party contract manufacturing facility.
The company said the mechanical fault caused small pieces of rubber to be dislodged and potentially embedded in the snacks during the production process.
"The safety of our consumers is our absolute top priority," said Nestlé Oceania Snacks General Manager, Andrew Lawrey.
"This recall is a precautionary measure, in line with our strict product quality and safety protocols," he said.
The recall affects both "Dipped" and "Original" varieties sold in major supermarkets, including Coles, Woolworths and Aldi, as well as independent grocers since December 2025.
Regulators, including Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), warned that the ingestion of foreign matter could lead to injury or illness.
Nestlé stated that while only a small number of products are believed to be affected, it is recalling all specific batches out of an abundance of caution.
"As soon as we became aware of the issue, we made contact with authorities to conduct a recall and notified all relevant retailers," Lawrey said, adding that "if you have purchased any of these products, please return it to the place of purchase for a full refund."
Consumers have been advised to check the side panels of boxes or individual wrappers for "Best Before" dates of August 31, 2026, and specific batch codes including 5316TD15 through 5324TD15.
No injuries have been reported so far.
