Bulawayo - Prominent Zimbabwean public speaker, author, philosopher and Pan-Africanist scholar, Joshua Maponga, has been hospitalised after surviving a serious head-on collision along the Bulawayo-Harare Road.
No fatalities were reported.
Maponga, widely recognised for his charismatic preaching, motivational talks and sharp commentary on African identity, spirituality and socio-political issues, shared dramatic images from the scene and his hospital bed on his Facebook page earlier today, March 16, 2026, confirming that he had lived through what could have been a far more tragic event.
Reports circulating say Maponga's vehicle was involved in a head-on impact that left two cars with extensive front-end damage.
The scholar escaped with injuries serious enough to warrant hospital admission but not life-threatening.
Maponga himself appeared in one image lying in a hospital bed, connected to medical equipment yet alert enough to raise his hand in a gesture of reassurance to followers.
In a reflective post accompanying the images, he said it could have been worse.
“Life is short.. I have lived… I am safe.. it could have been worse.. some things we have to go through … we have this treasure in jars of clay. FoT.”
A second, more direct update simply stated, “It was a car Accident….”
The brevity and philosophical tone echoed the style that has endeared him to thousands who follow his teachings on resilience, mortality, and spiritual fortitude.
As of the afternoon of March 16, authorities had not released an official police statement on the precise cause.
