Dynamos Out Of CAF Confederation Cup After FIFA Sanction Over Unpaid Debt
Dynamos FC have been excluded from the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup after failing to comply with a FIFA ruling over unpaid salary arrears owed to former coach Saul Chaminuka. The omission from the preliminary round draw costs the Harare giants a place in continental football and potential prize money.

Harare — Dynamos FC will not feature in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup after a FIFA-imposed sanction linked to an unpaid debt prevented the club from being included in the tournament's preliminary round draw.
The Harare-based side had been in line to represent Zimbabwe in the continental competition, but their hopes were dashed after they failed to meet FIFA's requirements to settle a long-running salary dispute involving former coach Saul Chaminuka.
Chaminuka reportedly took the matter to FIFA after the club failed to pay salary arrears amounting to about US$13,000.
Sources indicate that while Dynamos made an attempt to pay part of the outstanding amount before the deadline, FIFA required the debt to be settled in full before lifting the sanction.
As a result, the Glamour Boys were omitted from the list of 56 clubs that went into the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round draw, ending their continental campaign before it had begun.
Participation in CAF competitions comes with financial incentives and Dynamos are now set to miss out on potential preliminary round participation payments, in addition to other commercial and sporting opportunities associated with continental football.
Despite Dynamos' absence, Zimbabwe will still be represented in CAF inter-club competitions. Scottland FC have been included among the unseeded teams in the CAF Confederation Cup, while Zimbabwe will also have representatives in the CAF Champions League.
