ZERA Increases Diesel and Blend Prices
ZERA sets diesel at US$2.08 and Blend E20 at US$2.06 per litre from 17 September. The notice gives no specific reason for the adjustment, unlike earlier hikes linked to Strait of Hormuz disruptions.
Harare — The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has increased the cap for fuel prices effective 17 September 2026.
Diesel (50) is now priced at ZWG 55.57 per litre or US$2.08, while Blend (E20) is set at ZWG 54.97 per litre or US$2.06.
In a statement, ZERA like always, said it will continuously monitor and review of the prices.
The authority advised the public and operators that the blending ratio remains at E20.
It said operators may sell petroleum products below the prescribed prices depending on their trading advantages and must display prices in a prominent place as required by the fuel pricing regulations.
Stakeholders were also advised that petroleum price releases can be verified on the official ZERA website, Facebook page or Twitter handle.
The latest notice does not give a specific reason for the adjustment.
This contrasts with earlier reviews after the Strait of Hormuz disruptions began in late February 2026 where, at that time, ZERA raised prices sharply, citing surging global oil costs and supply risks linked to the Middle East conflict, with diesel climbing from about US$1.52 to peaks near US$2.11 and petrol to US$2.23 by March–April.
Prices later eased below US$2 in June after tensions moderated, though subsequent adjustments continued to reference geopolitical developments and import costs.
