Woman (24) Jailed 26 Months For Sexually Assaulting 14-Year-Old Boy
A 24-year-old Murewa woman has been sentenced to an effective 26 months in prison for having sexual intercourse with a minor.
Murewa - A 24-year-old woman has been sentenced to an effective 26 months in prison by the Murewa Regional Magistrates' Court after being convicted of having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old boy.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed the sentencing on Tuesday, following a trial that detailed the exploitation of a minor.
The court heard that the incident occurred on February 14, 2026. The offender reportedly visited the victim’s residence at approximately 8:00 p.m. where she initially joined the boy and his brother in watching videos on a mobile phone.
According to prosecution reports, the woman later followed the victim into a separate room.
"Later that evening, the offender followed the victim to a room where the offender initiated an intimate encounter which resulted in sexual intercourse," the NPAZ stated.
The crime remained undetected for nearly two weeks until the victim began experiencing health complications.
"The matter came to light on the 27th of February 2026, when the victim reported health concerns to his father," the Authority said.
"Following an enquiry by the father, the victim disclosed that he had sexual intercourse with the offender earlier that month," the court heard.
A police report was subsequently filed, leading to the woman's arrest and prosecution.
In its statement regarding the conviction, the NPAZ emphasized the judiciary's commitment to safeguarding the rights of children and ensuring that offenders are held accountable under the law.
"The law protects minors from exploitation," the NPAZ said, adding that "communities are urged to report any suspected offences involving children so that the justice system can take its course."
