Petronella Phiri, Miss Gweru People's Choice 2025 and Midlands’ proud contender at Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2026, exudes poise and purpose as she prepares to bring intellect, artistry, and regional pride to the national stage.

HARARE - A cast of sixteen models is set to animate the runway this Saturday at the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2026 grand finale, a high-concept showcase where ramp technique, cultural architecture and brand storytelling will converge in a bid for the national crown.

But amid the choreographed spectacle of movement and visual narrative, it is Midlands representative, Petronella Phiri, who emerges as a defining figure of the moment, an embodiment of the industry’s shift toward thinking, feeling and self-aware performance.

The contestants, Lisa Kwainona, Beautify Siziba, Vimbainashe Mutyavaviri, Zanele Moyo, Rutendo Magade, Zandile Sibanda, Ropafadzo P. Manyanga, Alexis Thuthani, Ruvarashe Jane Darare, Miriraiishe Magebede, Petronella Phiri, Letween Pikire, Noxolo Dube, Kathleen Chaziya, Mavhu Alexandra Kaseke and Silence Tadzembwa, are expected to deliver a precision-driven display of catwalk fluency, stage presence and aesthetic interpretation in what industry observers describe as a tightly contested runway showdown.

Pageant matron, Boitshepo Shumba, confirmed that preparations have reached their final phase, with contestants undergoing a rigorous bootcamp designed to fine-tune runway choreography, vocal projection, brand architecture and cultural intelligence.

“Our objective is to present a high-quality representation of Zimbabwean beauty that embodies the true colours of the nation,” she said, adding that the eventual winner will represent Zimbabwe at the Miss Tourism World Finals in China.

Within this competitive ensemble, Phiri stands out not only for her polished runway technique, but for the intellectual framework underpinning her performance.

The Miss Gweru People's Choice  2025, groomed under the Image Modelling Consultancy led by Mavis Koslek, is simultaneously a Masters student in Clinical Psychology, an academic pursuit that has become central to her modelling identity.

Her approach to pageantry reflects a nuanced understanding of the runway as a psychological and performative space.

Each stride is calibrated through cognitive awareness, each pause informed by emotional control and each engagement with the audience shaped by an understanding of perception and behavioural response.

In this synthesis, Phiri represents a new modelling archetype, where the body becomes an instrument and the mind its creative director.

Her preparation has been anchored in technical runway discipline, catwalk cadence, pivot precision, spatial articulation, but equally in performance psychology, allowing her to sustain composure and authenticity under competitive pressure.

The Miss Tourism Zimbabwe platform itself has evolved into a curated cultural stage, where contestants are not merely judged on physical presentation, but on their ability to function as narrators of national identity.

It is a pageant that privileges heritage storytelling, destination branding, and cultural diplomacy, positioning its queens as ambassadors of Zimbabwe’s tourism narrative.

For Phiri, representing Midlands carries both symbolic and artistic weight, an opportunity to translate regional identity into a nationally legible performance.

Her presence in the competition signals a broader recalibration within pageantry, where intellectual depth, narrative authenticity, and brand coherence are increasingly valued alongside visual aesthetics.

This year’s finale unfolds within a pageantry sector undergoing a dynamic renaissance. Sixteen models will take to the ramp, each showcasing their signature walk, stylistic interpretation, and performance identity in pursuit of the crown.

Preparations, which began with an intensive bootcamp earlier this week, have focused on *holistic grooming—runway execution, public speaking, and persona development—*reflecting the industry’s move toward professionalised talent incubation.

The platform continues to offer global pathways. Reigning queen Nomqhele Sisa Nkomo represented Zimbabwe at the Miss Tourism International 2025 pageant in Malaysia, where Poland’s Zuzanna Balonek secured the title, highlighting the international stakes and visibility attached to the crown.

Beyond Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, the broader pageantry landscape has undergone significant transformation. Established platforms such as Miss Zimbabwe, alongside the return of Miss Universe Zimbabwe, have elevated standards through structured grooming systems, corporate alignment, and emphasis on intellect and purpose.

Contestants are now cultivated as *multidimensional creatives—models, speakers, advocates, and brand ambassadors—*capable of navigating both local and global stages.
