Father (53) Jailed 30 Years for Raping His Daughters
A 53-year-old man from Wedza has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of repeatedly raping his two biological daughters, aged 18 and 16, over a two-year period. The Marondera Regional Magistrates’ Court heard how the father exploited the absence of his wife to commit the incestuous abuses.
Marondera - A 53-year-old father from Wedza has been sentenced to 30 years imprisonment after being convicted of repeatedly raping his two biological daughters over a span of two years,
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) says the Marondera Regional Magistrates’ Court delivered the sentence in a case that has drawn strong condemnation from authorities.
The offences came to light after the victims confided in family members.
In 2024, while their mother was away collecting agricultural inputs, the man allegedly scattered clothes in a bedroom and ordered his eldest daughter, then 18, to restore order.
He locked the door, instructed her to remove her clothes, and when she refused, he assaulted and raped her.
The court heard that he threatened further violence and eviction if she spoke out, continuing the abuse repeatedly until December 2025.
Starting January 2025, while the mother was away doing piece jobs, he also allegedly confronted his younger daughter, then 16 and a Form Three student.
"Under the terrifying guise of 'checking her virginity,' the offender ordered the victim into a room and asked her to remove her clothes," the court heard.
"She refused and the offender severely assaulted and raped her," NPAZ said in a statement.
The horrific abuse was repeated whenever the girls were left alone, the court heard.
The younger daughter eventually confided in her mother a year later, in January 2026.
Both victims underwent medical examinations, the results of which were presented as evidence leading to the man’s conviction.
"The offender acted completely outside the law, weaponising his position of trust as a father to terrorise and abuse his own children," the NPAZ stated, adding that "The state takes a zero-tolerance approach to gender-based violence and incestuous abuse and this 30-year sentence reflects the gravity of his heinous actions."
