Dinner Dispute Ends In Bloody Death
Mvuma - Zimbabwe Republic Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of his tenant following a domestic altercation in the Mushayabvudzi residential area of Mvuma on January 31, 2026.
The suspect, identified as Aleck Chaminuka (25), is alleged to have killed Tanaka Musiiwa (24) on the evening of January 31 at around 8 PM.
A statement released by Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, says the confrontation began when Chaminuka returned from work in Chivhu and discovered his wife, Caroline Hofisi (23) had not prepared a meal.
Hofisi fled to their renant's room seeking refuge following a conflict over the matter.
"A despute ensued over the issue, with Caroline resorting to seek refuge in Tanaka Musiiwa's room where she was welcomed by Portia Dzigahwi (19), the wife of Musiiwa
"Portia then informed her husband about the dispute between Chaminuka and Caroline," Inspector Mahoko said.
Police reports indicate that when Portia's husband, Musiiwa, returned home later that evening, Chaminuka accused him of being involved in an extramarital affair with his wife, and started fighting verbally.
"The verbal altercation escalated, during which Chaminuka allegedly stabbed Musiiwa once.
"An altercation digenarated between the two while their wives were inside Musiiwa's bedroom.
"Chaminuka then allegedly took a knife and stabbed Musiiwa once," Mahoko said.
"The victim was transported by neighbors to Mvuma District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival," he added.
Chaminuka remains in police custody and authorities have issued a public appeal for citizens to resolve personal disputes through peaceful mediation rather than violence.
"Once again, we call upon members of the public to resolve disputes in a peaceful manner," Inspector Mahoko said.
