Gweru - Premier Soccer League side TelOne FC received a timely boost ahead of their high-profile encounter against league giants Highlanders FC, following the official unveiling of a kit sponsorship deal with Fidelity Life Medical Aid Society (FLIMAS) at the Village Lodge in Gweru on Friday.

The partnership, which covers the remainder of the 2026 football season, arrives at a critical juncture for the Gweru-based outfit as the league campaign approaches its midway point.

The event was attended by TelOne FC executives, technical staff, FLIMAS representatives and player delegates.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, TelOne Vice President, Kisto Mutanga said the collaboration reflects a shared vision between the two institutions.

"TelOne FC and Fidelity Life Medical Aid Society, FLIMAS, are pleased to announce a sponsorship for the remainder of the 2026 football season, under which FLIMAS has provided official soccer kits for the club," Mutanga said.

"The partnership comes at a pivotal stage of the season as the campaign approaches its midway point and reflects a shared commitment to excellency, teamwork and community development," he said.

Mutanga added that the sponsorship would significantly enhance the club's identity both on and off the field while providing essential support to the playing squad as they enter the second half of the 2026 season.

The Wi-Fi Boys have endured a difficult run of form, currently anchoring the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League at the bottom.

TelOne FC President Oscah Nduwure did not hide his relief, acknowledging that the new match day apparel would provide a psychological lift to a squad that has struggled in recent weeks.

"This sponsorship will help us ensure our team is well equipped and ready to compete.

"I think most of you might have seen our guys in the field playing past 11 games, we were losing confidence.

"So with this kit, it's a new character, new identity, which we hope will bring confidence back into the football field," Nduwure stated.

He further pledged that the club would protect the corporate image of their new partners.

"We will do everything in terms of protecting the FLIMAS brand both on and off field of play.

"We encourage our supporters as well as our stakeholders to continue backing and rallying behind this partnership as we embark on the 2026 football season."

FLIMAS Head of Business Development, Munyaradzi Muzanenhamo, who delivered a speech on behalf of the medical aid society's Managing Director, Lovemore Madzinga, said the corporate social investment aligns with their broader institutional mandate.

"As FLIMAS we recognise the powerful role that sports plays in promoting health, discipline, teamwork and community development," Muzanenhamo said.

"As an organisation dedicated to enhancing the well-being of individuals and communities, we are delighted to partner with TelOne Football Club through this Sport Kids Sponsorship," he said.

The medical insurance firm highlighted that investing in sports is synonymous with building healthier communities, stronger institutions and a sustainable future.

"We are honoured to contribute to TelOne Football Club's journey and are confident that this partnership will extend beyond football field, fostering values of resilience, teamwork and achievement through the 2026 season," Muzanenhamo noted on behalf of the executive management.

Meanwhile, TelOne FC head coach Saul Chaminuka expressed confidence that the high-profile fixture this afternoon at Ascot Stadium arrives at the perfect time to ignite a turnaround, noting that the sheer magnitude of playing against a club like Highlanders naturally motivates his squad.

"We have prepared well, and yes, we are playing a very big game, one again, that everyone is looking forward to playing and I want to think that it's going to be easy for me because every player wants to play games of this magnitude to go and express themselves, and I am sure we are going to be doing a good job," Chaminuka said.

While acknowledging the contrasting form between the two teams ahead of the afternoon kickoff, the veteran tactician said his technical team has been working hard to address their recent slump and shift their focus toward survival.

"We are all aware, players are aware, that we are playing Highlanders, who are also playing very well currently, and we are a team that has not been doing that well, but I think we have been working very hard, and we want to change things, each game that comes, we want to change things and turn things around and start winning games, and I am sure Highlanders is one such a game that we are going to be playing.

"We are going to be putting our all so that we win and we have turned the corner and on and on we can continue to winning and forget about relegation," Chaminuka said.
