Highlanders FC Executives Horror Crash Plunges Zimbabwean Football Into Mourning

Bulawayo — The Premier Soccer League and Highlanders Football Club are in mourning following the untimely deaths of three senior football administrators in a road accident.

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL)  has postponed its scheduled fixture between Highlanders FC and Chicken Inn FC, which was set for Sunday, 26 July 2026.

The decision follows the passing of PSL Vice Chairman Rtd. Col. Kenneth Mhlophe, Highlanders FC Vice Chairman Sifiso Siziba and Treasurer Nkani Khoza.

 “The Premier Soccer League advises all stakeholders that the Castle Lager PSL fixture between Highlanders FC and Chicken Inn FC scheduled for Sunday 26 July 2026, has been postponed following the passing of PSL Vice Chairman, Rtd. Col. Kenneth Mhlophe, Highlanders FC Vice Chairman, Sifiso Siziba and Treasurer, Nkani Khoza,” the PSL said.

The league further called upon all clubs and football stakeholders to observe a moment of silence in respect and honour of their legacy before the commencement of all Matchday 25 fixtures.

All clubs have been requested to participate in the tribute by wearing black armbands during the weekend’s matches.

Highlanders Football Club, in its own statement, confirmed the devastating news with heavy hearts.

“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that Highlanders Football Club confirms the untimely passing of our beloved Club Chairman, Rtd. Col. Kenneth Mhlophe, Vice Chairman, Sifiso Siziba, and Executive Committee Member Finance, Nkani Khoza,” the club said.

The trio tragically lost their lives in a road accident while returning from the club’s league fixture against ZPC Kariba on Thursday evening, 23 July 2026.

Describing their immense contribution, Highlanders FC said they were the club's compass and strength.

“They were far more than club officials. They were the architects of the Club’s vision, the guardians of our values, and father figures to so many within the Highlanders Football Club family.

"Their leadership, wisdom, dedication and unwavering commitment to Bosso will never be forgotten," the club said.

The statement extended deepest condolences to the bereaved families, loved ones, the football fraternity, club members, supporters and all those touched by the officials’ lives.

“We ask that you keep the bereaved families in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” it added.

"Further details regarding funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course," the club said.
