GWERU — The spotlight glittered on the catwalk last Sunday as the 2025 Midlands Show crowned its newest stars — Daphne Kudzaishe Chimedza and Denzel Tafadzwa Moyo — who walked away with the coveted titles of Miss and Mr. Midlands.

Chimedza, a pastry chef and beauty therapist, stole the show with her flawless poise and high-fashion grace. Every turn, every pivot, every gaze was a masterclass in elegance, earning her the queen’s crown.

Beside her, Moyo — a Diesel Plant Fitting student from Kwekwe Polytechnic — commanded the stage with a bold runway stride, magnetic charm, and a confidence that radiated star power. Together, the duo transformed the ramp into their kingdom.

The judges and audience were left spellbound as the pair showcased precision and artistry in their routines — striking poses with sculpted timing and gliding across the stage with the polish of seasoned professionals. It was fashion-meets-theatre, where every step told a story and every glance held the crowd captive.

Not far behind, Kwekwe’s 21-year-old Nothando Banda was crowned First Princess, dazzling with youthful freshness and charisma, while 22-year-old entrepreneur Ashley Silape claimed the Second Princess sash with her chic flair and entrepreneurial confidence.

The winners were showered with prizes — laptops, printers, and dinner vouchers — courtesy of Steak and Chips, The Village, the Midlands Show Society, and Eat and Lick. Yet beyond the tokens and trophies, the real triumph was the celebration of raw local talent ready to shine on bigger stages.

For the audience, it was a night to remember.

“This event has left a lasting impression. The electrifying atmosphere, coupled with the winners’ captivating performances, has etched itself in our memories,” said Ireen Zindi of Woodlands.

Kuda Mandizha echoed the sentiment: “I am impressed. This event highlighted the importance of promoting local talent and giving young models a runway to showcase their craft.”

The 2025 Midlands Show was more than a pageant; it was a spectacle — a seamless fusion of fashion, culture, and showbiz brilliance. As the lights dimmed and the crowd dispersed, the crowns had been placed, but the echoes of applause lingered — a reminder that Gweru’s runway stars had truly arrived.
