Gokwe, Zimbabwe - A 55-year-old man, Mardon Dube, was killed by a group of six men who were allegedly seeking his son, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has said.
The attack, which occurred on August 17, 2025, at Kashiri Village under Chief Chireya in Gokwe, followed an earlier altercation involving the victim's son, James Dube.
Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the murder and shared details of the incident.
The ZRP statement reveals that on August 16, Mardon Dube's son, James Dube (21), got into a fight with the suspects at Chidoma Business Centre.
During the scuffle, James reportedly stabbed one of the men in the hand before escaping.
The next day, the six suspects, which include Oliver Madzivazvido, Felix Madzivazvido, Jealous Madzivazvido, Prince Ngondi, Tinashe Shonhiwa and Tafadzwa Shonhiwa, all from Madzivazvido Village, Chief Chireya in Gokwe, went to the Dube residence looking for James.
Upon seeing them, James fled, leaving his father at home, who was then assaulted.
"The six took turns to assault and stabbed Mardon Dube until he became unconscious," Inspector Mahoko said.
Mardon Dube succumbed to injuries on his way to hospital.
Inspector Mahoko appealed for public assistance with information which may lead to the six's arrest.
"We are calling for information on the whereabouts of the six suspects who are on the run.
"The ZRP urges anyone with information to contact their nearest police station," he said.
